Three Scottish hotels join Relais & Châteaux

Three properties in the UK - all in Scotland - have been added to the new Relais & Châteaux Guide 2012.

They include Greywalls Hotel and Chez Roux in Muirfield; the Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa and Island in Argyll (pictured); and Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder. The Connaught in London has left the guide this year.

The new edition features a total of 45 new members, with the total number of Relais & Châteaux hotels and restaurants now standing at 518 worldwide in nearly 60 countries. There are 31 hotels and restaurants from the UK represented in the guide.

Andrew Fairlie has also become the seventh chef in the UK to be appointed a Relais & Châteaux Grand Chefs, joining Michel Roux Jnr, Michael Caines, Raymond Blanc, Heston Blumenthal, Alain Roux and Martin Burge. The award recognises chefs who have led the way through innovation and sheer excellence.
