Chef Peter Weeden set to open the Newman Street Tavern

Peter Weeden, former head chef at the Paternoster Chop House, is opening a new restaurant in London's Fitzrovia.

Weeden, who also worked at the Boundary, is opening the Newman Street Tavern at the end of November.

The restaurant will be spread over two floors comprising a ground floor bar and raw bar, and an informal first-floor dining room featuring dark wooden floors, antique tables and vintage chairs and a fireplace.

Newman Street Tavern's raw bar will offer a selection of oysters and crustaceans, while the upstairs restaurant will serve a seasonal menu of specialist and wild produce from around the British Isles.

Typical dishes will include hot cockles and laver; Cornish fish soup; quail, apple and black pudding; grilled Galloway wing rib; and Banbury cakes.

Commenting on the opening Weeden said: "We have been planning Newman Street Tavern for a while now and I am so excited to open the doors and welcome everyone to our tavern and dining room where we will be cooking and serving some wonderful British food in beautiful surroundings at a great location."
