‘Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares’ restaurant to become luxury hotel

Moore Place, a restaurant and bar in Esher, Surrey, which featured in the first series of the Channel 4 TV programme Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, is to be demolished and a 50-bedroom luxury country house hotel built in its place.

A hotel operator is now being sought on a lease basis by the property investment consortium, Moore Place Holdings, to run the new property, which is to include a fine dining restaurant and a spa and leisure centre.

The development forms part of a larger site which includes a nine-hole golf course.

The existing restaurant and bar closed around 12 months ago and is due to be demolished in the next few weeks.

At the time of the screening of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares in 2004, the business was run by previous owners of the property who upset local residents  by painting the 18th-century building purple.

The new property will have a classical Georgian façade.

“This is a unique opportunity for an established, quality operator to secure a presence in one of the most affluent areas in the South East,” said Jonathan Parrish of Christie + Co, the agent instructed to find a suitable operator.

“We expect the Moore Place development to generate strong interest from national branded operators, established regional groups and entrepreneurial high profile operators in the hospitality industry.”
