Dorchester Collection plans to open 15 hotels

Luxury hotel brand The Dorchester Collection has unveiled plans to open 15 hotels over the next five to 10 years, including a new country house hotel near Ascot in 2010.

The announcement follows the recent addition of two new hotels in New York and Los Angeles as well as plans for a hotel to be housed in the former Playboy club on Park Lane, a stone's throw from the flagship Dorchester.

Christopher Cowdray, chief executive of Dorchester Collection, said: "We are targeting 15 hotels in key North American and European cities in the next five-10 years and we are delighted to be able to strengthen our UK portfolio with the addition of a country house hotel so close to the centre of London."

The 69-room Cowarth Park hotel in Ascot will house an equestrian centre with stabling for up to 40 horses, two polo fields, and a practice field.

Cowarth Park's rooms will be spread across 30 in the main house, and 39 in converted stable block and adjacent cottages. The hotel will also feature a luxury spa, a bar and both a fine dining and casual restaurant with open air terrace.

The hotel will also feature a bio mass boiler within an underground energy centre, fuelled by burning willow which will be grown on the estate, in order to reduce energy consumption. Cooling for the hotel will also be provided by ‘slinkys'- a ground source water circulation system of underground pipes.

The Dorchester Collection comprises The Beverley Hills Hotel, Le Meurice and Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris, Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, The New York Palace and the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.
