Kit Davidson of Animal Aid (Letters, Caterer, 26 January, page 22) is wrong about game shooting. Pheasants are not bred as "hapless targets" for shooters. Shooting is an enjoyable activity, but shot game is food.
Mr Davidson admitted that he would like everyone in the country to become a vegetarian, yet in the same breath criticised the quality of game meat. As a campaigning vegetarian, Mr Davidson is the last person I would trust to inform me about game meat.
