Weekly hotel revpar lifts by 9.5% in London and by 2.2% in the regions

Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) rose by 9.4% in London and by 2.2% across the regions in the week ending 27 February 2010, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global.

Revpar at London hotels increased to £105.84, up from £96.75 in the equivalent week of 2009. Occupancy grew by 0.8 percentage points, to 81.1%, while average room climbed by 8.4% to £130.57.

In the same week, regional revpar increased to £43.54 (2009: £42.61). Occupancy rose by 2.8 percentage point (to 66.2%) to counteract a 2.2% drop in average room rate, to £65.77.

A smaller decline in average room rate allowed Birmingham hotels to lift revpar by 3% to £44.24 (2009: 42.95). Occupancy rose by 2.5 percentage points to 72.1%, while room rate fell marginally be 0.5% to £61.40.

Hotel revpar for the 28 days to 27 February grew by 9.5% in London (to £97.17) but dropped by 0.3% in the provinces, to £42.17. In Birmingham, revpar rose by 2.8%, to £44.76, over the same period.
