Michelin-starred chef, Shaun Rankin, is the new face of Jersey Royal new potatoes.

To kick off the campaign, the chef will today lift the first 2007 potatoes, which are just coming into season, out of the ground for exporting to the UK.

Rankin, who runs the Bohemia restaurant in St Helier on the island, is known for his passion for seasonal food.

He said: “Jersey Royals are the earliest potato to hit the shops and have an unbeatable waxy texture and very distinctive taste and appearance.”

Rankin joins Anton Mosimann, as one of the only other chefs to have previously headed the campaign.
