The Jolly Farmer

The Jolly Farmer, a food-led destination dining pub in the Surrey village of Runfold is to become a Chinese restaurant under new leaseholder Steve Sung.

The North Downs village of Runfold is just off the A3 two miles east of Farnham and lies at the foot of the ancient Hog’s Back track at the gateway to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Built in 1932, the Jolly Farmer is a detached property with herringbone brickwork, beamed mock-Tudor gables and a host of character features such as exposed brick fireplaces, fitted oak dressers and display cabinets.

The pub, which makes 70% of its turnover from food, has multiple trading areas to seat 110 customers, four-bedroom owners’ accommodation, an award-winning garden with facilities for barbecues and functions for 90 guests, a large car park and a private garden.

It will be Sung’s second restaurant, joining Kei’s restaurant in Tadley.

The Winchester office of Christie + Co was seeking offers in the region of £140,000 for the lease, which runs to 2020, on behalf of Ann and Richard Richardson. The landlord is Punch Taverns.
