Answers

Jane Sunley, managing director of Learnpurple:

I should think that the contract catering sector would be delighted to welcome you. Many more hotel and restaurant chefs are "crossing over" now as they can enjoy excellent rewards and high standards with more regular hours, which allow for better work-life balance. Update your CV and show your culinary talents in the best light - be sure to include your achievements. Contact a good recruitment specialist who will assist you by selling your good points to suitable employers. Good luck.

Johnny Johnson, communications manager at HCTC:

By corporate, I assume you mean contract catering within a business. Before you make a move, it may be worth talking with your manager at Marston. It is a large, regional employer and may be able to help you move, either within the company or to a partner organisation. You could also contact one of the large contract caterers, such as Compass (www.compass-group.com) or Sodexho (www.sodexho.co.uk) to explore some options. They are both huge organisations working in a wide variety of businesses in the UK and around the world. Marston, Compass and Sodexho all offer NVQ and apprenticeship programmes to support you as you progress in your career.
