
Michel Roux Jnr is taking his Le Gavroche restaurant overseas for the first time since the two-Michelin-starred restaurant opened in London in 1967.

Roux: thrilled to be opening Le Gavroche on Mauritius

Le Gavroche de Tropiques will be the fine-dining restaurant at a new four-star, ocean-front resort that will open in Mauritius this November.
It will be one of three restaurants and four bars at the Voile D'Or Resort and Spa. The resort, which will have 198 bedrooms, suites and villas, will be one of four hotels on the Bel Ombre coastal development, which will be managed by Elegant Heritage Mauritius.
The 60-seat Le Gavroche de Tropiques will be open six nights a week and will feature a walk-in wine cellar and a cigar humidor. Roux will also prepare the light menu for the hotels Vitality Spa.
Le Gavroche's current sous chef ,Monica Faafti, will take the head chef role and her husband, David Galetti, who is assistant sommelier at Le Gavroche, will be restaurant manager.
Roux said: "I am thrilled to be opening a Le Gavroche on such a wonderful island. This is an important opportunity for the very first Le Gavroche abroad."
