The John O'Gaunt pub, Horsebridge, Hampshire

Thursday 16 June 2005 15:45

A traditional country freehouse is this week’s star buy. The John O'Gaunt pub stands close to the River Test in the picturesque hamlet of Horsebridge, four miles south of Stockbridge in Hampshire.

The area, in the heart of the Test Valley, is known for its picture postcard countryside and villages and the River Test is famous for its fishing - all of which have helped make the John O’Gaunt a thriving concern.

The pub, currently run under management, is also recognised in the Good Food Guide as being very popular with walkers for its attractively priced home cooking and good choice of ales and wine.

The property features owner-accommodation comprising a first-floor four-room flat and a self-contained one-bedroom bungalow. Plans have been drawn up to extend the ground-floor trading area of the pub and add five letting bedrooms.

Agent Christie & Co is marketing the property off an asking price of £650,000 for the freehold. For further information call Chris Kent on 023 8063 6333.
