Loch Fyne Restaurants and Carluccio’s are takeover targets
Greene King is believed to be weighing up a £70m offer for Loch Fyne, the seafood restaurant business. The chain has received a small number of approaches from pub companies interested in acquiring the business. Analysts have suggested Laurel could be one of the other parties interested. Carluccio’s, the quoted restaurant group, is also tipped as a potential bid target. – Sunday Times, 15 July

First bidder for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin steps forward
Irish property investor Quinlan Private has emerged as an early leading contender to buy Marylebone Warwick Balfour's chain of boutique hotels, Malmaison and Hotel du Vin. – Sunday Telegraph, 15 July

Chain of olde worlde teashops planned
Hope and Greenwood, a husband-and-wife partnership, is planning a national chain of 1950s-styled outlets, where the tea is loose-leaf and “fancy" coffee is banned. The couple have formed a joint venture with Ponti’s, the restaurant chain, to create the British Tea Rooms. The first outlet will open on Marylebone High Street, in the West End of London, in September. The company plans to open 50 British Tea Rooms nationally in the next few years. – The Times, 14 July

Edinburgh hotel to get £13m makeover
One of Edinburgh's top hotels is to receive a £13m makeover. The expansion plans at Norton House Hotel and Spa by parent company Hand Picked Hotels includes a spa resort and upgraded conference facilities. The bedroom capacity will almost double from 47 to 83 rooms. – Scotland on Sunday, 15 July

Visit Britain wants another £20m to promote Olympics
Visit Britain has asked the government for an extra £20m of funding to help promote the 2012 London Olympics, funding it says will be matched by industry. Visit Britain says it will be putting together more than 1,000 events every year to capitalise on the growth of interest in Britain as a tourist destination

Saudi investment bank buys two Raffles hotels
Kingdom Hotel Investments, the hotel-investment company controlled by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the Saudi Arabian billionaire, has made a double acquisition in Cambodia. As well as picking up Raffles Hotel Le Royal in the capital Phnom Penh, it has also bought the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap for £17.2m. – Sunday Times, 15 July

UK’s biggest leisure operator up for sale
Leisure Connection, Britain’s biggest leisure centre operator, is for sale at up to £50m. The company operates more than 80 leisure centres in the UK. – Mail on Sunday, 15 July

Travelodge appoints new sales director
Travelodge has appointed as marketing and sales director Daniel Heale, head of media and marketing for Camelot, the National Lottery operator. – The Times, 14 July
