Caterer has three copies of Marco Pierre White's Great British Feast to give away.

Closing date for entries is midnight Friday 18 July.

With his plummy tones and flowing locks, it’s easy to forget that Marco Pierre White started life out on northern council estate. But it’s these humble beginnings, and not the recent trend for organic and foraged produce, that White attributes to his latest antics in his new book Marco Pierre White’s Great British Feast

“As a boy growing up on a relatively impoverished council estate in Leeds ‘Hunter-Gathering’ was a way of survival,” says White in introduction to the book which accompanies the ITV television series. Pursuing his ongoing ethos to ‘let Mother Nature be the artist’, White goes in search of the finest in fresh British produce, adapting traditional recipes and devising new ones in the cookbook.

Like some kind of bourgeois culinary Rambo, White is pictured gun-in-hand hunting game and deer, fishing and foraging across the country; as he offers readers advice on sourcing the best ingredients. Packed full of reworked classics and newly devised recipes, with everything from truffled lobster to mushrooms on toast, the book is a must-read for foodies and White fans alike.

To get your hands on a copy all you have to do is answer the following question:

How old was Marco Pierre White when he gave back his Michelin stars?

Please send your entries marked ‘Marco’s Great British Feast’ to catererfeatures@rbi.co.uk

Closing date for entries is midnight Friday 18 July.

Using foraged ingredients is nothing new but the trend has become more mainstream over the past two years. However, the wider use of foraged food in restaurants also carries a certain amount of danger.
