Clapham House co-founder and chairman David Page is joining London pub company Young’s as non-executive director.

The announcement comes as the company reported managed house sales at its 100-plus pubs for the 15 weeks to 12 July had increased 5.3% year-on-year.

Speaking at Young’s annual general meeting yesterday company chairman Christopher Sandland said it had made a sound start to the year in line with expectations.

“We believe that Young’s premium market position, well invested sites and quality food offering makes us well placed to withstand the current trading pressures.”

Roger Lambert, previously managing director at corporate financier JPMorgan Cazenove, is also set to take up the post of non-executive director.

Both positions take effect from 1 August. Roy Summers has today retired from his position as non-executive director of the company.
