Pierre Koffmann returns to the stove

Iconic chef Pierre Koffmann is set to return to the stove later this year in a pop-up restaurant at London department store Selfridges, Caterersearch can reveal.

The former three-Michelin-starred chef patron of the famous La Tante Claire restaurant will run the 80-cover pop-up restaurant on the roof of Selfridges for one week in October.

La Tante Claire at Selfridges forms part of the inaugural London Restaurant Festival, which will run from 8-13 October. Created by the London Evening Standard’s food critic Fay Maschler and Simon Davis, who together run restaurant consultancy Private View, the festival will be a citywide celebration of dining out in the capital.

Koffmann will be joined in the kitchen by some of his former protégés including the Michelin-starred chefs Eric Chavot, head chef at The Capital and Tom Aikens, chef patron of Restaurant Tom Aikens and Tom’s Kitchen, in London; as well as Tom Kitchin, chef proprietor of The Kitchin in Edinburgh.

Raphael Duntoye, head chef at La Petite Maison, and Helena Puolakka, head chef at Skylon, will also join Koffmann together with award winning chocolatier William Curley.

Each of the chefs will spend a day in the kitchen with Koffmann, cooking a dish to represent their respective restaurants.

Pierre Koffmann told Caterersearch he was thrilled to be involved in the restaurant, which also forms part of Selfridges’ 100 year anniversary celebrations.

“I am delighted to have been asked to cook again especially since it is such a special birthday for Selfridges,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to be at the stove again with some familiar faces with me in the kitchen.”

Tom Kitchin said it was a great honour for him to be involved in the restaurant. “Pierre Koffmann is a legend and like a father to me and it’s such an honour for me to represent my own restaurant in his kitchen,” he said.

Tom Aikens added: “It will be really good fun to be back in the kitchen with Pierre; I know how much he misses it. Things will be different between us now as I’m not so much of a little boy anymore.”
