Puma Hotels' Collection launches with 20 Barceló properties

A new hotel group, Puma Hotels' Collection, has launched after taking over 20 properties across the UK from Spanish hotel company Barceló.

The new group encompasses 21 four-star properties across the UK, including the 152-bedroom Imperial hotel in Torquay and the 77-bedroom Lygon Arms in Gloucestershire - which it previously managed under the Puma Hotels name prior to the signing of a 45-year lease with the Barceló Group in 2007.

The move comes after the Barceló Group agreed to pay a penalty fee of £20.25m after pulling out of an agreement early to operate the hotels.

Jane Rawlinson, head of marketing and e-commerce, said: "In such an exciting year for British tourism, we are delighted to have successfully launched new British hotel group Puma Hotels' Collection, following the successful handover from Barceló UK.

"The new brand will focus on the unique characteristics and location of each hotel, whether through the local cuisine, the grounds (particularly in the case of the flagship countryside properties), or the nearby facilities and attractions."
