Award-wining London tapas bar Barrica is to open a second site in the West End, with the launch of a new restaurant in Soho.

Located on D'Arblay Street, on the former site of Bar Chocolate, the new restaurant will comprise 1,200sq ft spread over the ground floor and basement.

Barrica owner Tim Luther, formerly of Albion wine shippers, opened his first site on Goodge Street in 2009, together with chef James Knight, formerly of Moro. The menu offers a variety of tapas dishes while the drinks list includes a wide range of sherries and Spanish wines.

Jonathan Moradoff from Davis Coffer Lyons, who acted on behalf of Bar Chocolate, commented: "Barrica has been immensely popular on Goodge Street due to its distinctive offering. A3/A4 space in the West End is very hard to come by in the current market, so to have secured such a prime Soho spot should provide the perfect place for them to grow their concept."

He added: "There is unprecedented demand in Soho at the moment and there were a number of interested parties."

Barrica won the Best Spanish Food and Drink in London award in Time Out's Eating and Drinking Awards in 2010.
