QC, the 120-seat, two-rosette restaurant at the Renaissance London Chancery Court hotel, has been earmarked for a major revamp in January.
The restaurant, which opened with the hotel in December 2000, was designed to be a destination restaurant in its own right and has been overseen since September 2001 by current head chef Jun Tanaka, who will be closely involved in the redesign.
Like many parts of the hotel, the restaurant's name reflects the legal location of the hotel. But director of operations Simon Trainer said the name conjured up the perception of trouble with the law.
Although the details are still being hammered out, the design and name of the revamped restaurant is likely to be themed around the building's history as a Pearl Insurance site. Trainer said the name change would make it sound more like a restaurant and add a "wow factor" to the dining room.
Keith Hobbs of United Designers is believed to be handling the redesign.
