Fresh start at Lodge

The Lodge hotel in Newtonmore, Inverness-shire, has been sold to newcomers Peter and Jeannette Gillespie for close to its £320,000 asking price. The hotel comprises 35 bedrooms, a lounge bar, 34-seat restaurant, function suite with space to cater for up to 120 people and four staff rooms. Christie & Co was the agent.

She liked it so much

The Lake of Menteith hotel near Stirling has been sold to loyal customer Elizabeth Haynes for more than £650,000. The 16-bedroom hotel is located on the shores of Lake Menteith and has its own small jetty, mooring and fishing rights. Robert Barry & Co was the agent.

Neighbourhood sale

Agent Robert Barry & Co has sold two hotels on the same road in Windermere, Cumbria. The 10-bedroom Howbeck hotel has been sold to Hazel and Richard Manning off an asking price of £695,000. The nine-bedroom Fir Trees hotel, just along the road, was sold to Robert and Bee Towers for close to £675,000.

Cairn Lodge sold

The Cairn Lodge Hotel and Restaurant in Auchterarder, Perthshire, has been sold to Ridi Stakis Christie for close to £1.5m. The country house hotel and restaurant has 11 bedrooms, a 35-seat restaurant, two lounges and a cocktail bar. The hotel is situated in one-and-a-half acres of grounds just a mile away from Gleneagles golf course and has a four-star commendation from the Scottish Tourist Board and two AA rosettes for its food. Christie & Co was the agent.

Dundonnell deal

Agent Christie & Co has sold the Dundonnell hotel in Dundonnell, Ross-shire, to newcomers Robert Leggat and Patricia Stevens for £650,000. Previous owners Selbie and Flora Florence are retiring from the trade after 40 years of ownership. The hotel, originally a coaching inn dating back to 1820, comprises 30 bedrooms, two lounges, a bar, conference room and 150-seat function room.

Management buyout

The Inn at the Park hotel in Aberdeen has been sold for more than its £550,000 asking price. The hotel comprises 11 bedrooms, a dining room, function suite, restaurant and public bar. The former manager of the hotel, Michael Taylor, and his uncle, Michael Gray, have bought the hotel. Christie & Co was the agent.

Clearwell purchase

The Tudor Farmhouse Hotel & Restaurant in Clearwell, Gloucestershire, has been sold to Owen and Eirwen Evans and their daughter, Hari, off an asking price of £995,000. The hotel, set in 14 acres of land, has an AA two-star rating. It comprises 22 bedrooms, a 30-seat restaurant, 25-seat meeting room, lounge and manager's flat. The Evanses hope to develop the restaurant by extending its opening hours to include business lunches as well as continuing to develop the letting side of the business. Christie & Co was the agent.

Grand designs

The Grand hotel in Sandown, Isle of Wight, has been sold to Torquay-based hotel company Dukes Hotels off an asking price of £1.2m. The 64-bedroom hotel brings the number of properties within the Dukes portfolio to seven, including three in Torquay, two in Blackpool and one in Llandudno. South Devon's Carden & Morris was the agent.

Jowett's third

The Gallery hotel in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, has been sold to experienced hotelier Phil Jowett for £725,000 - £30,000 more than its asking price. Jowett, who owns two other hotels in the area, bought the hotel from former Scotland international footballer Don Masson. The Gallery comprises 15 bedrooms, a two-bedroom letting apartment, bar, lounge and breakfast room. Robert Barry & Co was the agent.
