Another year of record turnover and profits has been reported by Inventive Leisure, which operates 38 bars. In the 12 months to 30 June, the group boosted pre-tax profits by 21% to £3.8m on turnover 35% ahead at £37.6m. Growth has been driven by its 32 Revolution bars, where vodka accounts for 39% of turnover.
Sales at Revolution bars soared by 50% to £35.1m, representing 93% of total turnover, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation grew by 51% to £6.4m. Like-for-like sales increased by 2.5%.
During the year, Inventive Leisure opened new Revolutions at Reading, Walsall, Harrogate, Milton Keynes, Chester and Swansea and sold three non-core units. Since the year-end, it has launched new Revolutions in Sheffield and Watford and plans six more before Christmas and two in the new year.
The hot weather of the late summer dented trading in the first three months of the current financial year. Although Revolution sales grew by 28% in this period, like-for-like sales dropped by 8.5%.
