The unused control tower at Manchester AirportBar operators are being invited to tender for a contract to run an airport bar within an unused control tower at Manchester Airport.

The tower sits right in the middle of Terminal 1, with 360 degree views of the runways and airport, and looking to the south, over the Cheshire countryside.

The decommissioned control tower is arranged on four main levels with the focus on level five being the principle space.

Andrew Harrison, commercial director at Manchester Airport, said: “We’re looking to increase the range of audiences we cater for here at Manchester and we’re hoping this becomes a venue to rival some of the city centre’s most sophisticated venues.

“Our intention is to produce an experience that far exceeds all current expectations of a great bar, as well as being an opportunity for a cutting edge operator to demonstrate real flair. We’ve already had expressions of interest and want to work with the right people to really deliver a successful product for our passengers at Manchester.”

The tender comes months after Manchester Airport completed a £50m, two-year overhaul of Terminal 1.

Expressions of interest can be made to Steven Foster at Manchester Airport (steven.foster@manairport.co.uk  or 0161 489 3390) or Melanie Taylor at property developer Milligan Retail (melanie@milliganretail.com or 0207 297 4302).

Using foraged ingredients is nothing new but the trend has become more mainstream over the past two years. However, the wider use of foraged food in restaurants also carries a certain amount of danger.
