Catermasters wins £1.6m five-year contract extension at Oxfam

Catermasters has been awarded a five-year extension to its contract at Oxfam's headquarters.

The firm supplies breakfast, lunch and afternoon catering service to 700 staff at the Oxford site, with a focus on Fairtrade and sustainable sourcing. The contract is worth £320,000 a year and is entirely commercial with nil subsidy.

"This is a massive contract extension in today's economic climate and we're all delighted that Oxfam clearly has so much faith in us and the service we provide," said Catermasters joint managing director Richard Moody. "When this latest contract runs its course in 2015, we will have been on site at Oxfam for 10 years and that's something we can be extremely proud of."

Catermasters employs one chef manager and six generals assistants at the Oxfam site, the majority of whom have been there since the company beat 26 other contractors to the original contract in 2005.

Operations manager Keith Dawe said continuity had been an important factor in winning the five-year extension.

"A lot of our staff have been here since day one and the stability and continuity that brings has been very important," he said. "Oxford is a city where Catermasters looks after a number of contracts and that means we visit the Oxfam site on a regular basis and provide the right kind of support if it's needed."

Aileen Peverell, Oxfam's facilities manager, said: "Our staff love the consistently high quality of freshly prepared food, with plenty of variety to meet the tastes of the diverse workforce."
