Contract caterer Aramark has been awarded a six-year deal worth an estimated £38.5m to supply catering, retail and leisure services to personnel on HMS Nelson and the Portsmouth Naval Base.
The deal, announced last week with Fleet Support Services, is an extension of an existing contract which has seen Aramark providing support services at HMS Nelson since 1987. It was one of the Aramark Defence Division’s founding sites.
Under the terms of the latest contract, Aramark will deliver a “Pay as you Dine” service, a Ministry of Defence initiative designed to provide more choice and better dining facilities to Naval and civilian personnel.
Aramark, which won a £58.4m deal to provide catering for MoD operations in East Anglia in January this year, is also overhauling catering and retail facilities across the Naval Base, including rejuvenation of the Nelson Courtyard.
