A former home of the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas has been saved from the brink of collapse and re-opened as a hotel.
Seaview in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, was bought in July 2007 for £232,000 at auction by Milsom architects.
Graham Milsom and his son Jan have spent two years renovating the Grade II-listed building into a hotel with a restaurant and received final planning permission for the conversion last December.
Jan Milsom told the Western Mail newspaper: “It’s been hard work at times but I feel like we’ve finished a whole book now, not just a chapter of it. The next part of the work is alien to us but something we are looking forward to.”
Dylan, his wife Caitlin and his young family lived in the property between 1938 and 1940. During that time its list of distinguished guests included TS Eliot, Arthur Miller, Henry Treece, Veronica Sibthorp and Vernon Watkin.
