A round-up of the latest news from the contract catering sector...

Major win for Holroyd Howe
Independent contractor Holroyd Howe has won a group contract with utility company RWE, which employs 7,500 people across 19 sites in the UK, from Newcastle to Swindon. The contract is for three years and will turn over about £3.5m a year.

National Housing Association signs Everson Hewett
Everson Hewett, bought by Compass Group in February, has won the contract to provide catering, banqueting and conferencing services at the headquarters of the National Housing Association in London's Holborn. The five-year contract is expected to turn over £500,000 a year. Everson Hewett will also handle bookings, marketing, business development and site promotion.

Big school deal for Sodexho
Sodexho has won the catering contract at Oxted School in Surrey, which will turn over almost £400,000 a year. The three-year deal started on 1 June and includes the possibility of being extended for a further two years. Oxted secondary school is the fourth-largest in England, with about 2,150 students. Sodexho is employing 15 staff, providing breakfast, mid-morning break and lunchtime catering services.

Carphone Warehouse calls on Eurest
Compass has won two large contracts from telecoms firm Carphone Warehouse. Eurest, Compass's business and industry arm, has won a two-year contract at the company's support and contact centre in North Acton, west London, which will turn over £1.2m a year. The caterer will serve as many as 1,800 employees and visitors a day. Eurest is also catering for Carphone Warehouse and its subsidiary Opal Telecom at their building in Birchwood, Warrington, Cheshire. The deal will turn over £420,000 over three years and on-site staff numbers are expected to double in the next two years.

England expects...
Wimbledon caterer FMC expects to serve up 112,000 punnets of strawberries and 17,000 bottles of Champagne during this year's tennis tournament. An army of 1,600 staff will help FMC cater for nearly 500,000 spectators at the All England Club from 21 June to 4 July.
