Fans of films like Scarface, Goodfellas and The Godfather might be interested to know that this year's theme for the Acorn Club Summer Ball is gangsters and molls. So for one night only gentlemen are allowed to play the hard man and pretend to be Al Pacino or Robert De Niro, while women can dress up as flappers with an "f".

The ball takes place at London's Dorchester hotel on 23 July and will be attended by industry professionals and past winners of the Acorn Awards, which recognise young hospitality professionals.
The event hopes to raise money for hospitality charity PM Trust, which supports young people training to be chefs.
The evening opens with a Champagne reception, followed by a four-course meal. Then chef Brian Turner, who is a trustee of the charity, will host an auction, and there will also be a raffle and a covers band.
