Demand from staff has prompted the owners of the 33-bedroom Newbury Manor Hotel to turn the Berkshire property into a no-smoking hotel.
The change will come into force from 1 July.
The staff committee tabled the suggestion to management that a no-smoking policy would be good for the health of hotel staff, as well as the environment and maintenance of the property.
“We believe that it is a move that will benefit the majority of our customers and will certainly improve the environment for the staff," said managing director Bob Rae.
"Surprisingly to us, it was actually the smokers amongst the staff who suggested the move.”
