Architecture praise for City Inn Westminster

Monday 28 June 2004 12:45

The 460-bedroom City Inn Westminster hotel has won one of the country’s top architecture awards.

The hotel opened last September and is London’s biggest new hotel for 30 years.

City Inn Westminster: "not too showy"
It was one of 63 new buildings to win this year’s Royal Institute of British Architecture awards in recognition of their design and contribution to the local environment.

Designed by architectural practice Bennetts Associates, City Inn Westminster was the only hotel to win an award.

The judges praised the hotel for its elegant design and for being “a clever piece of urban infill” that was “handsome and confident without being too showy”.
