The Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) has appointed Jonathan Doughty as its new UK and Ireland chairman.

Doughty, managing director of foodservice consultancy Coverpoint, has been vice chair of the FCSI for the past two years and succeeds Tony Galvin.

Doughty, who founded Coverpoint in 1993, said: “I am absolutely delighted to take on the role of UK and Ireland chair of the FCSI. This is a highly prestigious organisation and it is a great honour to be asked to be chair.

“These are interesting times for foodservice providers: the recession is making life difficult for many, but it is also throwing up fabulous opportunities.”

The FCSI promotes professionalism in food service consultancy in the UK and abroad.

It recently announced the launch of a Master of Science Degree in International Hospitality Design and Management Consultancy, which will be available from January 2010.

The course has been developed in association with Catering Equipment Distributors Association, Catering Equipment Suppliers’ Association and Sheffield Hallam University.
