Washbourne Court to relaunch as Slaughters Inn

Washbourne Court, one of four former Von Essen properties bought out of administration up by Brownsword Hotels in October 2011, is set to be relaunched as Slaughters Inn in September.

The 30-bedroom property, which stands in the centre of the Cotswolds village of Lower Slaughter, is undergoing a refurbishment of its contemporary bar area to return it to a more traditional pub environment.

Nick Halliday, managing director of Brownsword Hotels, said the name change was intended to provide greater synergy with the property as a village pub with rooms and had been well received by the local villagers.

Stuart Hodges, formerly of the New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns, has recently been appointed as the new general manager of Washbourne Court.

Meanwhile, neighbouring hotel the 19-bedroom Lower Slaughter Manor, another former Von Essen property now owned by Brownsword Hotels, has announced the appointment of Abigail Hardiman, currently operations manager at Chewton Glen, as its new general manager. Hardiman will replace Mark Godfrey, the former managing director of Harbour Hotels Group, who is currently acting as interim general manager at the property.
