Peter and Valentina Wemyss from Maidenhead have bought the Argyll Arms hotel, which was built in the 19th century as a coaching house for the Duke of Argyll.
It has a prominent position on the main street of Campbeltown, the principal town of the Mull of Kintyre, which is popular with walkers, artists, bird-watchers, golfers, and surfers.
The blonde sandstone-fronted building is within walking distance of the pier and of Campbeltown Loch, a major draw for yachtsmen.
It offers 29 bedrooms (of which 23 are en-suite), a 120-seat dining room, two bars and a function room/cocktail bar that can hold up to 250 people.
The Glasgow office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a £750,000 asking price on behalf of Lance Everett.
