Punchinello’s, reputedly Nottingham’s oldest restaurant, has been sold after twenty years under the same ownership.
The large, three-storey building in Forman Street (on one of the city’s licensed circuits) has contained a restaurant since the late 1800s.
The Italian/Mediterranean restaurant has a 50-seat ground floor restaurant and a 70-seat restaurant on the first floor, along with seating for eight people in the main bar and a 40-seat enclosed dining area that is used in the summer.
The Nottingham office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £1.2m on behalf of Madoc Bellamy. The new owner is local businessman Jay Rathour.
