KFC, the fast food chicken chain, has announced that it will no longer add salt to its fries.

The company, which used to add 2.1g of salt to each portion of fries, said that following trials over the past two months, it had now taken the decision to stop adding salt to fries.

A spokesman said: “It is up to consumers to choose whether they add salt to their fries. During trials, consumers told us they really appreciated being able to add their own salt to get the taste right for them.”

KFC has also reduced salt in other products including buns, popcorn chicken and BBQ beans by up to 30%.
