Sodexo offers ‘try before you buy' school meals

Caterer Sodexo has offered free school meals to more than 2,000 reception pupils as part of a strategy to encourage take-up.

Children from Bromley, Wiltshire, Salisbury and Rochdale were given a free school lunch for a one-week period so they would have the opportunity to try the food before signing up for the service.

Colm O'Mahony, Sodexo Education divisional director, said: "We offered parents a chance for their children to enjoy the dining room experience and at the same time to try our food for free as we are confident that the choices we provide will suit all children's tastebuds.

"By signing up to school meals, pupils will get a nutritionally-balanced hot meal every day."
