The Quality hotel in Norwich

The Quality hotel in Norwich is to undergo a major refurbishment following its sale to East Anglian hotel operator, GS Hotels, for an undisclosed price.

The 80-bedroom hotel is one of 40 within the Real Hotel Group, which went into administration in January 2009.

Thirty-four of the hotels on short leases were returned to the landlord, while the sale of the other six have been handled by Edward Symmons’ Hospitality & Leisure Division, on behalf of joint administrators, Shay Bannon and Antony Nygate.

Other former Real Hotel Group properties already sold by Edward Symmons include the New Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, the Quality hotels in Birmingham and Sunderland, and the Central in Glasgow.

Leigh Hemmings, marketing manager for GS Hotels, said that the company plans to invest £750,000 in the Norwich property.  “We are equally pleased that as well as being able to provide Norwich with an improved hotel offering, we are also securing leisure, hotel and catering industry jobs in the city,” he said.
