Raymond Blanc will choose the winners of The Restaurant in the final of the BBC2 programme this evening.

The third series of the hit TV show featured nine couples battling it out for the chance to open their own restaurant.

Blanc, this year’s Catey lifetime achievement award winner, was joined on the show by Michelin-starred restaurateur David Moore and former Clapham House director Sarah Willingham, who will also invest in the winners’ business.

Tonight’s season finale will see chefs JJ and Chris head to Blanc’s two-Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire for a masterclass in fine dining, while their partners, James and Nathan, receive a lesson in high standards of service at Moore’s two-Michelin-starred Pied à Terre restaurant in London.

The lessons are preparation for the contestants’ final challenge during which they must serve up a prestigious banquet for Lord and Lady Arran and their exclusive guests at their stately home in Devonshire.

The couples will compete by making alternate courses of a seven-course meal, facing a cook-off with a dessert of soufflé.

For one couple it will be the end of the road, while the other will win the opportunity to go into business with Blanc, Moore and Willingham.
