BA caterer Gate Gourmet lands celebrity chef

Leading airline service company Gate Gourmet has a new arrival – celebrity chef Steven Walpole. 

A familiar face on BBC's UK Food and Discovery Health , as well as BBC's Saturday Kitchen, Walpole joins the company as senior executive chef to British Airways (BA). 

With experience at Browns Hotel, The Waterside Restaurant at Bray, Lloyd’s of London and recently as a lecturer at London’s Westminster Kingsway College, he will oversee Gate Gourmet’s BA First Class menus.

“I am looking forward to new challenges of designing appetising and healthy meals in an industry that is not traditionally know for the quality of its food.”, said Walpole. “With the team at Gate Gourmet I am confident that I can bring something new to menus that are already at the top of their class”.

Walpole has also run workshops on healthy eating for children and taught a group of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen students.

Tim Cocker, commercial director UK & Ireland at Gate Gourmet said: “Steven will help push the boundaries of airline food, using the very best people and the finest and freshest ingredients to develop menus that match offerings in top restaurants”.
