Hospitality operator sought for restaurant and bar atop Heron Tower

A hospitality operator is being sought for a new restaurant and bar located atop Heron Tower, which will be the tallest building in the City of London when it opens in March 2011.

European property group Heron International, which is developing the site, has unveiled its plans for the Restaurant & Sky Bar which will occupy the top three floors of the 46-storey office tower.

Located at 110 Bishopsgate, the restaurant will be spread over 1,247 sq m including terraces offering spectacular views across the City.

Serving an all-day menu it will be open to the public as well as Heron Tower’s tenants and will be accessed from a dedicated street entrance on Bishopsgate, with two lifts travelling directly to the restaurant’s entrance on the 39th floor.

Lisa Ronson, director of Heron International, said: “[The restaurant at] Heron Tower will need to cater for a wide range of tastes and be open 18 hours a day to meet the needs of those who are working in the financial capital of the world, straddled between US and Asia time zones.

“We are looking for an operator that has a proven track record in delivering consistent quality at the very highest levels.”

Ted Schama of leisure property agents Shelley Sandzer has been appointed to find an operator for the Restaurant & Sky Bar.

Heron Tower will comprise a slender glass and stainless steel clad structure of rising to 230m. It will form the centrepiece of Heron International's Heron Plaza development, incorporating new public spaces and a network of squares and gardens.

Last summer, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts announced it was to develop a mixed-use project as a component of Heron Plaza.
