Charlton House toasts new contract
Reading-based Charlton House has started a new contract to feed about 100 staff at the offices of drinks company Pernod Ricard UK in Hounslow, Middlesex. The one-year rolling contract has an annual turnover of £90,000.
Artizian listed in top 100
Berkshire-based Artizian has come 28th in business magazine Real Business’s list of the top 100 fastest-growing companies. The caterer, which last year recorded profits of £33,000 on a turnover of £4.9m, expects to turn over £6m this year.
Avenance chefs win through
Avenance chef Dennis Mwakulua has won the British Meat Contract Chef of the Year award. Meanwhile another of the company's chefs, Mark Kent, won the semi-final of the Pastry Chef of the Year competition run by parent company Elior. Kent will now compete in the May final.
Scolarest gets fruity
Education caterer Scolarest is boosting the levels of Vitamin C in its school menus as part of a national campaign to help schoolchildren fight colds and infections. The company has developed new menus featuring Vitamin C-rich foods, such as oranges, tomatoes, broccoli and cauliflower.
Defence caterer goes for gold
Eurest Defence, part of Compass Group, picked up three awards at the Bedford Salon Culinaire last month. The caterer was judged best of class and won two gold medals for its performance in La Parades des Chefs hot kitchen category and in the team buffet category. It was also judged best in class overall in the Senior Parade Team Grand Prix event.
