Raffles International Hotels & Resorts has appointed YVETTE THURING as general manager of its Brown's hotel in London to replace Peter Richards, who resigned. Thüring was previously general manager of the Swiss“tel in Amsterdam.

ROBERT RAMSDEN has been appointed sous chef at the General Tarleton Inn in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. He joins from Harvey Nichols in Leeds, where he was chef de partie.

JASON GARSIDE has been appointed general manager for the Carlton hotel in Torquay, Devon, part of the TLH Leisure Resort group. He was previously general manager at the Oak hotel in Ramsgate, Kent. Elsewhere in the group, ROBIN THOMPSON has been appointed restaurant and banqueting manager at the Toorak hotel, also in Torquay, Devon. He was previously assistant manager at the hotel.

URSULA VON PLATEN has been appointed marketing and communications co-ordinator for Kempinski Hotels & Resorts and will be based in the London office. Before joining the group she was with the Raffles Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg, Germany.

DARREN WINDER has been appointed head chef of Thorpe Park hotel and spa, due to open at the end of this month in Leeds. He joins from the Aztec hotel in Bristol, where he was also head chef.

GEOFFANDREW, currently managing director of Summit Hotels & Resorts, leaves at the end of June to join Maltese-based Corinthia Hotels International as group sales and marketing director.

EMMA DE ROSE has been promoted to branch manager of the west London office of recruitment consultants Berkeley Scott. She was previously senior recruitment consultant at the branch.

LISA RAWLINGS has been appointed sales manager at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire. She was sales and marketing manager for the Lords of the Manor, the Feathers and the Greenway country house hotels in the Cotswolds.

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel in London has appointed SPENCER YEO as director of sales and marketing. He previously held the same position with Conrad hotels and resorts in Egypt.

The Birmingham Marriott hotel has appointed NIGEL PARNABY as executive chef. He joins from the Randolph hotel in Oxford, where he held the same position.

KIM WALKER has been appointed sales manager for the Newcastle Assembly Rooms. She joins from the Menzies hotel in Newcastle, where she was also sales manager.

KIRK ALBROW has been named chief executive of the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London. He was previously the UK and Ireland general manager for Swissair/Sabena.
