Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has left the kitchen and strayed into the bedroom by suggesting that dumplings are killing off the sex drive of Germans.
The birth rate in the Fatherland has been dropping like a badly made souffle for years.
Now Jamie Oliver, who has a cult following in the country, says Germans should lay off their beloved dumplings if they want more sex and more babies.
In an interview with the German edition of Men's Health magazine, Oliver offered his views not just on cuisine, but coitus.
When asked what he would cook for a hot date, Oliver said it didn't really matter as long as the main dish "wasn't heavy".
"You won't get anywhere afterward if you've eaten a stew with dumplings," the star chef said.
Germans are particularly fond of their dumplings, called kloesse or knoedel, which are balls of grated potatoes or bread held together with egg yolk, fat, flour and other calorie loaded ingredients.
According to Oliver, you're better off lightly dining on greens before lovemaking rather than stuffing your face with carbohydrates.
