France has topped Forbes magazine’s list of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world.

In its list, five of the 10 ten rooms cost a cool $25,000 (£13,232) per night or more.

The most outrageous one, it states, is the Penthouse suite at Hotel Martinez in Cannes, France for a whopping $37,200 (£19,689). For that, you get four bedrooms, a private terrace with a Jacuzzi and views of the Mediterranean.

The cheapest suite of the five is located in the Burj Al Arab on the coast of Dubai, which is built in the shape of a sail. Parts of the hotel lobby are plated in 24 karat gold and the building is taller than the Eiffel Tower. For just $10,900 (£5,770) a night, guests can enjoy the Royal Suite featuring an enormous rotating bed, a private cinema and an indoor Jacuzzi.

“Expectations are at an all-time high,” said Bjorn Hanson, who leads hospitality research at accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
