Pub and hotel operator London and Edinburgh Swallow Group has snapped up two Scottish properties through Christie & Co.
Its Swallow Hotels arm has acquired the Western Isles hotel in the Isle of Mull fishing port of Tobermory (the setting for children’s TV programme Balamory and a former CatererSearch Property of the Week).
The cliff-top hotel commands a panoramic view of Tobermory Bay, renowned for its semi-circle of brightly-painted buildings.
Built in 1883, the hotel is split into four levels and includes 28 en-suite bedrooms, a 50-seat dining room, a 50-seat conservatory bar, a 50-seat residents’ lounge, a meeting room for 30 people, and a sun terrace.
The business, which holds a wedding licence, also has a separate staff block with nine en-suite bedrooms and a lounge.
The Glasgow office of Christie + Co was seeking offers in excess of £1.1m on behalf of the vendors, Paul and Vivien Thomson.
Meanwhile, London and Edinburgh Inns has bought the Cutty Sark bar, restaurant and coffee shop in the Angus fishing village of Inverbervie, near Montrose.
The substantial property in King Street comprises a large sports bar, an 80-seat restaurant, a 24-seat coffee shop, a beer garden, a large separate function room that is ripe for redevelopment, and three flats.
The Edinburgh office of Christie + Co was looking for offers above £800,000 on behalf of previous owners Douglas Welsh and William Dorward.
