Glynn Purnell to open restaurant in July

Glynn Purnell, head chef at Jessica’s will open his self-titled restaurant, Purnell’s, in Birmingham at the beginning of July.

The chef, who won a Michelin star in 2005 at Jessica’s, is yet to set the opening date of his 45 cover restaurant which is located in the heart of Birmingham’s financial district.

Purnell said: “Picking up the keys for my own restaurant is like a dream come true.  I’ve worked in a kitchen full time for the past 16 years and it is second nature to me now.

“At Jessica’s I was responsible for developing the menu and it was really fantastic to see how well diners responded to new and adventurous ideas. There’ll be more of that at Purnell’s.”

The restaurant, a Victorian building at 55 Cornwall Street, is being designed by Joseph and Satou and will also house its own bar.
