Compass Group has won a £12m total turnover contract with Technip UK, a provider of engineering, technology and project management to the gas and oil industry.

Under the terms of the three-year deal, ESS will provide catering, hotelkeeping and facilities management for Technip vessels in the North Sea, West Africa and Brazil, as well as other regions.

The new deal follows on from a five-year contract signed by Compass in 2004 to provide catering and housekeeping aboard Technip’s ships.

Steve Woodward, senior vice president of offshore operation services at Technip, said: “Technip has an excellent relationship with ESS and is looking forward continuing to work with it.

“ESS has consistently provided first class catering, cleaning and faculties management about our vessels and worked flexibility with us over the past years.”

At the start of this year, ESS appointed Alain Morize as managing director and John Wigglesworth as business development director. Morize previously headed up ESS’s south-east Asian operations and Wigglesworth moved from outsourcing company Capita Group. They replaced Peter Bruce and Colin Henry, respectively.

Last year the catering giant announced it would be phasing out the ESS name to create Eurest Services, although the ESS name has been retained for its defence and offshore business.
