Restaurant chain Zizzi and celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine pick young chef to create menu for Prince's Trust
Casual-dining chain Zizzi has teamed up with food writer and celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine to work with a talented young chef to create a special menu that will be sold nationwide to raise money for the Prince's Trust.
The youth charity helped Zizzi and Erskine find an up-and-coming talent in food who had been helped by the trust. Following a final cook-off, London chef Joe Gray was selected.
Gray will work with Erskine to develop a seasonal three-course menu that will be available in more than 120 Zizzi restaurants nationwide this September. For every dish sold from their menu, Zizzi will make a donation to the Prince's Trust.
Erskine commented: "I'm incredibly excited to be working with Zizzi and I think I've found a really promising and passionate foodie. Joe is the perfect example of how the trust's good work changes lives and I'm so proud to be on board with the charity's new campaign."
Helen Jones, marketing director at Zizzi, said: "Zizzi is a big supporter of the trust's brilliant work with unemployed young people and we believe that providing them with a platform to showcase their talents is really important."
Gray added: "I can't wait to get to work with Gizzi on a new and inspired autumn menu that will be sold in Zizzi restaurants to raise money for a cause that is very close to my heart."
The initiative is part of the Prince's Trust Tomorrow campaign. Launched this week, it will see established industry faces mentor trust-supported young people to create products that will raise vital funds to help more unemployed young people into jobs.
Other established industry faces taking part in the campaign include designers Zandra Rhodes, Wayne Hemingway and Kelly Hoppen, beauty entrepreneur Liz Earle and internationally renowned photographer Rankin.
