Do I need a water treatment system?

Q My equipment installer wants me to buy a water treatment system with my new dishwasher. It's not cheap, it'll need looking after and I'm not sure I see the point.

A Do it. Limescale build-up in dish and glasswashers, and any other equipment using mains water, is one of the main causes of breakdown and maintenance issues. Water treatment will reduce or eliminate the problem, saving you money in the long term, minimising down time and lengthening the life of your equipment. Many water treatment systems are available and the one you select will depend on the hardness of your water. For a second opinion on your specific needs, talk to the dishwasher manufacturer.
