Soup Kitchen International plans UK invasion

The man who inspired the no-nonsense “Soup Nazi” character in the US sitcom Seinfeld is bringing his broths to Britain.
 
New York chef, Al Yeganeh and his business partner at Soup Kitchen International, John Bello, plan to open 50 Original Soup Man franchises throughout Europe next year.
 
A company spokesperson said the first outlet is planned for London in early 2007 and that restaurants in Manchester and Birmingham will follow.

The company is also researching other potential locations in most major European cities.
 
In all, 50 different soup recipes will be served at the Original Soup Man outlets, classified by type, such as seafood, meat and vegetable. Signature dishes include lobster bisque, jambalaya and mulligatawny.
 
More than 20 franchises are now operating in the USA, after the launch of the first franchise in New Jersey in October 2005.
 
All soups come with a baguette and are followed by a piece of fresh fruit and piece of chocolate.
