Little Bay opens restaurant in Brighton

London restaurant group Little Bay is expanding outside of the capital, with the launch of a new site in Brighton.

The new restaurant, which opens at budget hotel Umi today, will be inspired by the theatre and feature opera singers providing entertainment, while Baroque-themed interiors will reflect the group’s renowned opulent design.

Seating up to 140 diners, with a further 40 outside, the Brighton restaurant will offer Little Bay’s signature menu of modern European dishes with a French influence. Head chef is Stashek Kovalski, who has worked with Little Bay in London for 15 years.

Little Bay owner Peter Ilic told Caterersearch.com the Brighton launch came on the back of customer demand.

“Many of our customers over the years have asked us to open a restaurant in Brighton and I feel that there’s nothing quite like us in the area,” he said. “We will add gallery seating to the new restaurant in September, which will extend the capacity to 186.”

Ilic opened London’s first Little Bay restaurant in Kilburn in 1992, and three further sites followed in Croydon (1998), Farringdon (2002) and Battersea (2003).

A fire forced the Battersea restaurant to close last January and the site is currently undergoing a refurbishment and set to reopen early next year.
