Former Distinguished Hotels chairman Tim Hadcock-Mackay committed suicide, according to the verdict of a Nottinghamshire coroner.
Based on a post-mortem and evidence from several witnesses, the inquest ruled yesterday that Hadcock-Mackay, 43, hanged himself.
His body was found at the rear of his Barnby Moor Hall property near Worksop, Nottinghamshire, on 28 July.
Hadcock-Mackay is understood to have been troubled by the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the Distinguished Hotels marketing consortium in April.
It went into administration last month with debts of more than £1m.
In a suicide note, he claimed “abuses of trust” led to the downfall of the company.
He also said “fair-weather friends” had left him unable to carry on.
